HOUSTON, Texas, November 29, 2022 — The Energy Corridor District invites the business community, residents and all Houstonians to ring in the holiday season with the lighting of a 50-foot tree and to learn about the nonprofits that will receive donations as part of the District’s 12 Days of Christmas initiative.
The 2nd Annual Tree Lighting Celebration, presented by ConocoPhillips, will be held on Thursday, December 1st at the Hyatt Regency Houston West, 13210 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. The tree lighting will take place at 6:15 p.m.
This year’s celebration will be hosted by Emmy Award-winning news reporter, Miya Shay of KTRK-13. It will include an announcement of the six nonprofits that will receive a total of $30,000 as part of the District’s 12 Days of Christmas donations. The event will also feature live music by Thomas Cokinos, the Westside High School choir and the Carlos Lopez Orchestra.
The event’s Candy Cane Lane Nutcracker Market is sponsored by District employer Kiewit. The 50-foot tree is powered by a 100% renewable electricity plan from Shell Energy.
“This year’s event has been expanded to bring our business community and Houstonians together in a celebratory and giving environment. As the kickoff to the District’s 12 Days of Christmas programming, this event allows us to showcase the Energy Corridor to all of Houston,” The Energy Corridor District Executive Director Elijah J. Williams said.
As part of the 12 Days of Christmas program, The District, with generous support from ConocoPhillips, will also provide meals to first responders, health care workers and law enforcement officers as a gesture of gratitude for their service to the community.
