Keep an Eye on Trail Planning
West Houston Trails Master Plan is currently under
development by the Energy Corridor District and
the National Park Service with guidance from
agencies and input from stakeholders. Keep checking
here to follow the planning of this regional trail system.
Maps
The trail plan encompasses 113,000 acres within a 6-mile radius centered at the intersection of IH-10 and State Highway 6. View proposed trails on an interactive map.
Community Input
Formal community input occurred during the month of September, 2009. Community comments on the trail plan were gathered at a community input meeting September 9th at Maurice L. Wolfe Elementary (502 Addicks Howell Rd) . Input was also collected through on-line surveys from this website. We are reviewing input, considering additional spine or priority trails, updating the map, and developing plan elements that include guidelines for design, construction, use and management.
Goals
The goal of the West Houston Trails Master Plan is to develop a shared-use trail system that will connect existing and new trails throughout West Houston to improve commuter solutions, outdoor recreation, rain runoff management and habitat preservation while linking residential communities and business centers.
