Two Meetings Offer District Insights

Energy Corridor District stakeholders are invited to attend two upcoming educational meetings that will provide valuable insights into the District’s growth, demographics, and public safety trends.

On June 18, attendees will receive an overview of the District’s Land Use and Demographic Report, prepared by CDS. The report examines both the physical characteristics of the District — including office, retail, multifamily, and land development activity — and the demographic trends shaping the community. Energy Corridor District Vice President Zak Miller will present key findings and discuss current real estate market conditions across the District.

A week later at the District’s quarterly Public Safety Meeting on June 25, Miller will lead a discussion on the findings from the latest Kinder Houston Area Survey, with a focus on Houstonians’ perceptions of Houston area challenges and how they relate to the Energy Corridor.

Both meetings will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Energy Corridor District offices, 777 N. Eldridge Parkway, Suite 270. The meetings are open to the public, and lunch will be provided for registered attendees. Please RSVP to help ensure an accurate headcount.

Welcome New Board Members

Matthew Royall holds a bachelor’s degree and law degree from Baylor University. He and his wife have three children. They enjoy spending time together, traveling, playing sports, and are active members of their church and community.

Taylor Mann earned his bachelor's degree at Texas Christian University and his Master’s at Texas A&M University. He lives in Cypress with his wife and three children. He enjoys spending time with family and playing tennis.

Energy Corridor District is proud to announce the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors.

Matthew Royall joins the board representing one of the District’s largest employers, ConocoPhillips, where he serves as Manager of Real Estate Transactions, Portfolio Planning, and Travel. Royall previously worked at NOV, where he was Director of Real Estate and served as an attorney supporting real estate and business transactions.

Taylor Mann will represent Vista Companies on the District’s board. Mann has more than 15 years of experience in commercial real estate. At Vista, he is responsible for identifying property acquisition and development opportunities. He also assists with new business development and management of the Vista portfolio, which includes The Plazas at the Parkway, 1127 Eldridge, where you’ll find Josephine’s Day Spa, Bao Bao Bahn Mi, Orangetheory Fitness and other tenants.

“Matt and Taylor represent very different interests in the Energy Corridor, so they bring new perspectives and experience to our board,” said Energy Corridor President Bryan Brown.

The board’s next meeting is Friday, June 12 at 8:30 a.m. at the Energy Corridor District offices, 777 N. Eldridge Parkway, Suite 270.

Tree Trimming Revitalizes Park Row Esplanades

Before, during, and after: The trees on Park Row Drive are much healthier after they are treated to a lifting of their canopies.

Crews working for Energy Corridor are giving dozens of trees along Park Row Drive a fresh start while improving safety and visibility throughout the Corridor. With the City’s Park Ten Wastewater Treatment Plant Project now substantially complete, the District is once again able to perform routine maintenance and beautification work along Park Row.

Crews are raising the canopies on trees located within 26 esplanades along Park Row Drive, stretching from the western edge of the District near The Spencer Park Row Apartments to Eldridge Parkway.

The trees — which include Live Oaks, Post Oaks, Elm, Pine, Sycamore, and Nuttall Oaks — were protected throughout construction of the wastewater diversion project. As a result, routine canopy maintenance was postponed for more than two years, allowing significant new growth to accumulate. The current work enhances the appearance of the medians while delivering several practical benefits. Raising the tree canopy reduces the risk of property damage from low-hanging limbs, removes weak or sagging branches, improves sightlines for motorists, encourages healthy upward growth, and provides better access for ongoing landscape maintenance.

The result is a cleaner, safer and more attractive streetscape along one of the District’s key corridors, helping ensure the Park Row esplanades remain an attractive feature for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

Get Ready for Hurricane Season

Hurricane season has arrived, and now is the time to make sure you’re prepared. While longtime Gulf Coast residents are familiar with the challenge that tropical weather can bring, newcomers may not know where to begin.

To help residents get ready, Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones has developed a hurricane preparedness guide with practical tips for before, during, and after a major storm. The guide also includes a checklist of essential supplies to keep on hand in an emergency kit.

Residents can learn more at two upcoming hurricane preparedness workshops hosted by Commissioner Briones. The first will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, June 13th at the MAS Katy Center, 1800 Baker Road. The second workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. June 27th at Lien Hoa Temple, 6709 Sugarland Howell Road.

Residents are also encouraged to sign up for emergency notifications and storm alerts through Ready Harris and the Harris County Flood Warning System.

World Cup Resources Available for
Houston Fans

The FIFA World Cup is coming to Houston this summer, bringing seven matches, more than 500,000 visitors and worldwide attention to the region. While the games will be played at Houston Stadium near NRG Park, Energy Corridor residents can benefit from planning ahead if they intend to attend matches, fan events or other World Cup activities.

Several online resources can help residents prepare. The official Houston Visitor Guide offers information on match schedules, fan festivals, transportation options, lodging, and attractions throughout the city.

Those planning to use public transportation can find transit information, route updates, and event-specific travel guidance at METRO’s World Cup transportation page. METRORail and other transit services are expected to play a major role in moving fans between downtown activities and match venues.

Commuters can also visit Commute Solutions’ Game Plan Resource Center for tips on navigating anticipated traffic impacts and exploring alternative transportation options during the tournament, which runs from June 14 through July 4.

Whether you’re cheering from a local watch party, welcoming visiting colleagues and friends, or heading to a match, the World Cup promises to bring a global celebration to Houston — and Energy Corridor residents are well positioned to join the fun while taking advantage of resources designed to help them navigate the event with ease.
