Thousands turn out for The Energy Corridor District’s 3rd Annual Tree Lighting celebration

On December 7, 2023, approximately 3,000 people joined The Energy Corridor District for the 3rd Annual Tree Lighting Celebration presented by ConocoPhillips.

Members of the Energy Corridor community rang in the holiday season at the event hosted by Zachery Lashway, anchor and reporter for KPRC-2.

The celebration at the Hyatt Regency Houston West featured the lighting of the District’s 50-foot tree, Candy Cane Lane Nutcracker Market sponsored by Fluor and live music on the bp stage by Wendy Thomas, the Westside High School choir and the Emotions band. Attendees were also given a keepsake necklace as a giveaway provided by CITGO.

The Tree Lighting also included the announcement of the six nonprofits awarded a total of $30,000 as part of the Energy Corridor District’s 12 Days of Christmas initiative. The 2023 recipients are: CompassRN, the Outreach Center of West Houston, Senior Rides & More, Lily’s Toy Box, the Center for Pursuit, and Literacy Now.

During the 12 Days of Christmas, the District also provides meals to first responders, health care workers and law enforcement officers as a gesture of gratitude for their service to the community.
