Updates on the North Dairy Ashford Road Intersection and Safe Crossing Project
Improving mobility and public transportation infrastructure throughout the District.
The Energy Corridor District is proud to help make our area one of the safest, most dynamic, and well-connected parts of Houston. Through advocacy, economic development, infrastructure improvements, beautification, mobility solutions, public safety, and more, we work every day to elevate our community. A key part of our strategy is collaboration. By working closely with agencies like TXDOT, the City of Houston, and Harris County, we’ve achieved a remarkable return on investment—securing $8.21 in grant funding for every $1 invested since our founding.
While partnerships have fueled much of our success, we’re excited to announce a project we’ve launched independently: the North Dairy Ashford Road Intersection and Safe Crossing Project. This initiative is a major step forward in our ongoing efforts to improve mobility and public transportation infrastructure throughout the District.
This project is rooted in our Mobility Action Plan, which identified areas where safety and accessibility could be significantly improved. North Dairy Ashford stood out as a key location in need of upgrades—not only to enhance traffic flow but also to ensure the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders. While the project is centered on North Dairy Ashford, it will bring improvements to 9 other intersections across the District.
The improvements in this area are substantial. The project includes a new mid-block crosswalk to provide a safer crossing option for pedestrians, redesigned and safer left-turn lanes, relocated bus stops for easier access, a new bus shelter, and upgraded bike lanes to support a smoother, safer commute. These changes will make it easier and safer for everyone—whether you’re walking, biking, riding the bus, or driving—to get where they’re going.
But that’s just the beginning. The District is also making sidewalk, crosswalk, and curb improvements at several key intersections to enhance pedestrian safety more broadly. New signage and pavement markings will be installed at intersections along Eldridge Parkway at both Brimhurst Drive and Westerloch Drive. These upgrades will improve visibility, create safer crossings, and offer a more seamless experience for everyone navigating our community on foot or by bike.
These enhancements reflect a broader vision: creating a more walkable, accessible, and vibrant Energy Corridor. We believe streets should be safe for all users—including bicyclists and pedestrians—and these improvements bring us one step closer to that goal.
The project locations are detailed in the accompanying map. They are part of a larger commitment to long-term accessibility and mobility improvements throughout the District.
We’re excited to see these improvements take shape, and we know our community will benefit from the increased safety and convenience they bring. The North Dairy Ashford project is slated for completion this summer, and we can’t wait to see the positive impact it will have on everyone who lives, works, or travels through the Energy Corridor.
