Join us for EnergyFest May 2nd

Live beats, colorful murals, delicious eats, and family fun — EnergyFest returns in May! Join the Energy Corridor District for our FREE springtime celebration of community and local culture featuring live music, family-friendly attractions, art installations, food trucks, and a marketplace showcasing local businesses and organizations.

EnergyFest is Saturday, May 2 from 3 - 7 p.m. at Addicks Park & Ride, 12430 Old Katy Road.

We are bringing high-energy entertainment and live music to the Energy Stage , with DJ Bizonee , Reputation: A Tribute to the Music of Taylor Swift* and EZ Band . Our host and emcee will be Derrick Shore from KPRC-TV’s Houston Life.

Our Family Village will feature a festival experience designed just for kids, including an interactive energy experience and a take-and-make craft led by Young Audiences of Houston , plus face painting, balloon twisting and a special appearance by the Texas Bubblers .

The Marketplace is designed to capture the vibes and charm of a lively street fair. Neighbors can connect face to face with the entrepreneurs and professionals who help support our local economy. Check out the list of committed vendors . If your business is not on the list, it’s not too late to secure your spot in the Marketplace.

Art Walk will feature live interactive mural painting with well-known Houston artists, plus chalk art and lots of opportunities for the ‘gram.

Finally, some of Houston’s favorite food truck vendors will be featured at EnergyFest. Whether you’re craving something savory or have a sweet tooth to satisfy, you can fill up while enjoying the music and atmosphere.

We’re grateful to BP Federal Credit Union and Silversand Services for their sponsorship of EnergyFest. You may also showcase your brand, highlight your services, and connect directly with thousands of attendees as an EnergyFest sponsor or Marketplace exhibitor. Confirm your sponsorship or booth reservation before April 12.

*Reputation is an official tribute to the music of Taylor Swift and is not endorsed by or affiliated with Taylor Swift or TAS Rights Management.

Memorial Drive Improvements part of
Longer-Term Plans

Drivers traveling along Memorial Drive between Eldridge Parkway and Highway 6 are enjoying a welcome change — a newly resurfaced stretch of roadway that’s delivering a smoother, more comfortable ride with fewer traffic back-ups. This $7.6 million City of Houston improvement project began with milling, a process that removes the worn layer of asphalt, followed by careful leveling of the roadway and then applying fresh pavement. The result is a cleaner, more even driving surface that enhances comfort and safety for daily commuters.

Work is now in its final stages, with crews completing the re-striping of lanes and traffic markings to ensure clear visibility for drivers. The enhanced pavement markings are the result of an H-GAC funded corridor study , which identified near-term improvements and a long-term vision for this heavily-traveled roadway, according to Mike Jackson, Energy Corridor District’s public realm and special projects manager. “We appreciate the City’s partnership to add the improved lane markings as part of their asphalt overlay project,” said Jackson.

All remaining barricades and construction signage are expected to be removed by mid-April.

Local Resources to Engage for Earth Day

Get ready to celebrate Earth Day — the annual celebration of and recommitment to a clean, healthy planet — coming up on Wednesday, April 22. This global event seeks to raise awareness of conservation, recycling, and clean air, plus educate consumers on how they can contribute to a better, cleaner world.

There are a few local options available to those who want to recycle. STS Electronic Recycling accepts most electronics at its drop off location at 232 W. 38th Street. This free service is available to businesses and individuals. They’ll accept your computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, copy machines, ink cartridges and more. If you’d like pick-up service for larger items, contact STS’s Houston representative Teddi Verhage for pricing via email or by phone (902-625-7295).

Consumers can also deliver their recyclable plastics, paper, cardboard, and glass to the Waste Management facility located at 1200 Brittmoore. This single-stream recycling facility accepts most mixed recycling in large bins onsite. Only glass needs to be separated and placed in a separate container. The facility is open Monday - Saturday.

The City of Houston’s Westpark Consumer Recycling Center is also open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Center is located at 5900 Westpark and accepts plastics, paper, glass, and metal.

Meanwhile, consumers who drive electric vehicles have several options for charging their vehicles in the Energy Corridor area, including the following:

  • Parkway Villages Shopping Center (in front of Kroger), 1560 Eldridge
  • Kendall Library, 609 N. Eldridge
  • bp pulse, 14401 Katy Freeway
  • Mac Haik Ford, 12111 Katy Freeway
  • Mac Haik Chevy, 11711 Katy Freeway

Enjoy Crawfish Season Right Here

in Energy Corridor

It’s crawfish season in South Texas and two of your favorite Energy Corridor restaurants are offering boiled crawfish and other seasonal specialties as long as the season lasts.

Watson’s House of Ales , 14656 Grisby Rd, serves mudbugs every Saturday afternoon from 12 p.m. until they’re gone.

And crawfish tops the menu at BB’s Tex-Orleans , 1275 Eldridge Parkway, the next few weeks while Gulf Coast crawfish are in their peak season.

A cityscape at twilight with tall glass buildings and streaks of red and white lights from cars. Text reads 'About The Energy Corridor District,' describing its role and location.
