Hiking Opportunity with Nature & Eclectic Outdoors (NEO)
Have you always wanted to participate in a marathon? NEO Houston is making that possible this month with its series of four hikes over Labor Day weekend, culminating in a marathon’s worth of hiking by Labor Day.
The first free hike will be on Friday, September 1, 2023 starting at 7 PM at Memorial Park. This night hike will be lit by the full moon, so be sure to bring a flashlight or headlamp in addition to water, snacks, good hiking shoes and bug spray. This is also a great opportunity to meet fellow outdoorsy Houstonians in a low-stress environment!

Topgolf’s Fall Leagues
Starting Monday, September 18, 2023, Topgolf will be hosting the Houston - Katy Fall Leagues!
For eight weeks, teams of 4-6 players will compete every Monday night for Leagues prizes, including commemorative prizes and Topgolf gift cards. Every Monday night, teams will have the opportunity to practice for one hour before competing from 7 PM - 9 PM.

Beautification Update:
Refreshed Pavement Markings in the District
The Energy Corridor District is committed to creating a business-centric and thriving community environment through the implementation of its core services and goals. One of our primary focuses is beautification and maintenance, ensuring that the area has a visual appeal that attracts visitors and businesses while fostering a sense of community.
Recently, the Energy Corridor District engaged with the City of Houston regarding refreshing pavement markings within the District. This collaboration has led to significant improvements in the visual and functional aspects of our roadways, particularly in areas where pavement markings were excessively worn.
City of Houston Public Works crews have been actively addressing the worn markings at strategic locations and intersections. Notably, the intersection of Memorial and Eldridge has seen refreshed crosswalks and select turning arrows, enhancing both pedestrian safety and vehicular navigation. Additionally, the crosswalk on Memorial Drive, which connects the north and south sides of Terry Hershey Park, has also been repainted, ensuring safe passage for park-goers and improving the overall aesthetic of the area.
The Energy Corridor District team will continue to collaborate closely with the City of Houston Public Works Department. The process involves a thorough evaluation by Public Works leadership to determine if the existing pavement markings meet their criteria of being approximately 90% worn. Once this determination is made, crews are promptly deployed to install the new pavement markings.
These efforts are part of The Energy Corridor District’s ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing the visual appeal and safety of our community. You can expect to see continued improvements in pavement markings across the District, contributing to a more attractive and safer environment for all.
Eldridge Parkway Traffic Update
Many of you have expressed concerns and questions regarding the ongoing traffic issues on Eldridge Parkway, particularly related to the construction activities in the area. Last week, Houston Public Works hosted a Virtual Community Meeting regarding the Park Ten Wastewater Treatment Plant project that has contributed to the current traffic situation on Eldridge Parkway and Park Row Drive.
Those who attended the meeting learned that the City of Houston has hired a new contractor and construction work is on track to resume this month. The discussion also included a comprehensive overview of construction updates and the opportunity for attendees to ask questions about the project.
The Energy Corridor District aims to keep the community informed about the progress of the Park Ten WWTP project. If you missed this important virtual public meeting, we encourage you to visit Engage Houston's website to watch the replay and learn more about the plans for the project.
The Energy Corridor District’s Public Safety Grant Application is Open
We are pleased to announce the launch of The Energy Corridor District’s Public Safety Reimbursement Grant Program, aimed at fostering a safer and more secure environment within our District through the installation of lighting and surveillance enhancements on commercial properties.
As a responsible commercial property owner within The Energy Corridor District, we invite you to participate in this program and submit a reimbursement grant application for consideration.
All application materials must be received by August 1, 2024.

2-1-1 2-1-1 is our community’s go-to resource in times of disaster and every day of the year. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and it’s available in numerous languages. Call 2-1-1 for assistance or go to 211texas.org. You can also reach out to them to find nearby volunteer opportunities.
Crisis Cleanup Harris County has activated Crisis Cleanup for county residents who may need help with cleanup. The number to call is 832-509-2977. Operators will either answer immediately or will call the survivors back. There is not an online process, as this hotline process is especially helpful for those without internet access.
Disaster Assistance Application Residents and business owners who sustained losses due to the recent severe weather can begin applying for assistance at DisasterAssistance.gov. You can also call 800-621-FEMA (3362).
SBA Disaster Loan Application The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) provides low-interest disaster loans to help businesses and homeowners recover from declared disasters. You can find more information about SBA loan assistance here. Visit lending.sba.gov to start your application.
Home Damage & Community Needs Assessment Survey Harris County residents should report their damages via the Home Damage & Community Needs Assessment Survey. The Harris County Connective survey allows you to connect with additional local resources and recovery organizations as aid becomes available.
