Energy Corridor District Names Bryan Brown New President
The Energy Corridor District is excited to announce the selection of Bryan Brown for the position of President. Since its creation by the Texas Legislature in 2001, Bryan has become only the third person to lead the District, a 2,000-acre business improvement district home to the world’s corporate headquarters for energy companies, engineering firms and many other businesses.
“Bryan brings an in-depth understanding not only of urban planning and management but their specific application to Houston and our local business communities. We are very excited to be supporting Bryan and our professional staff as they continue to provide incredible value to our stakeholders.”
-David Hightower, Energy Corridor District Board Chair
The Energy Corridor District provides services in the areas of advocacy, economic development, leadership and marketing; beautification and maintenance; planning, infrastructure and identity; public safety and security; and transportation and mobility. Brown takes the reins of the District as it prepares for its forthcoming Service Agreement, a commitment between the District and the commercial property owners located within its boundaries that outlines the services the District will provide funded through an assessment of commercial properties.
“From major grant projects that improve our mobility to investment in public infrastructure, advocacy and business support, the District is a vibrant, growing community and I am very excited to lead the District into the future. We have an opportunity to evolve something truly special here in the District, and I am honored to be a part of that.”
-Bryan Brown, President, The Energy Corridor District
Brown joins the District after a twenty-year career in public management and operations, where he has led projects in multi-modal planning, transportation and public funding strategies.
“I am so excited to work with our Board of Directors, staff and stakeholders to keep building The Energy Corridor District as a place where businesses and individuals can find opportunity and thrive.”
-Bryan Brown, President, The Energy Corridor District

Park Ten Wastewater Project Construction Updates
Testing is ongoing from Memorial Brook to North Eldridge. Once this is approved, traffic control will be removed and the roadway will be opened.
From October 1 through October 21, construction on the tunnels from Highway 6 to Park Ten will begin operating under the new 24-hour work schedule approved by the City of Houston, including on Saturdays and Sundays. This work schedule is required to adhere to the City’s ordinances on maximum permissible sound levels.
The lift station is in the electrical work stage of construction, as all piping and pumps have been installed. Testing is set to take place in December!
Adjustments are being made as is necessary to North Eldridge, south of I-10, to ensure clear traffic flow.
Thank you to everyone who lives in, commutes through or visits the District for your ongoing patience and support as this project continues.
The District’s 3rd-quarter Public Safety meeting was held on September 19th and featured a presentation on the Buffalo Bayou Community Plan from Houston Stronger Board Member Guy Hagstette. The Buffalo Bayou Community Plan is a bold new approach to addressing our regional flooding issues and can revolutionize our growth in West Houston.
In 2017, Hurricane Harvey inundated our neighborhoods with flood waters and rain, and in response, a coalition of scientists, engineers, conservationists, business leaders and everyday citizens formed Houston Stronger to help advocate for and develop policies to support better flood mitigation. The result is the Buffalo Bayou Plan.
The plan calls for tunneling beneath the city surface to install a water drain in the bottom of the Addicks and Barker reservoirs and divert excess water through 40-foot diameter pipes out into the ship channel.
Additionally, the plan calls for dredging and deepening the reservoirs by excavating the bottoms and utilizing the dirt to reinforce the walls of the reservoirs. When not filled with water, the reservoirs could also serve as parkland and greenspace designed to accommodate flooding.
To learn more, please check out the presentation available from the Houston Stronger website!
From Piedmont to Copenhagen, the world has been dropping by the Energy Corridor to learn more about how we operate and how we help companies thrive here.
Consul General Mortem Lynge of Denmark led a delegation of alternative energy companies through Houston and paid the District a visit to talk about the future of energy and the greater energy transition. Of particular interest was work being pursued by the Houston-based company Vallourec in the realm of hydrogen power. The delegation was also excited to learn more about Syzygy Plasmonics, a chemical company focused on de-carbonization technologies, which shared updates on their latest fuel research.
Several businesses and officials from the Italian state of Piedmont came to the District to learn more about business opportunities in Houston, Texas, and the United States. We were joined by representatives from the Mayor’s Office of International Trade, Houston City Council District G staff, Texas 38th Congressional District and the Office of the Governor.
