Well Wishes to a Wonderful Energy Corridor Community

Take time to celebrate the season with festive stops on the road to recovery

At a time of the year filled with special meaning, this holiday means more than most.

While so many people and businesses in the Energy Corridor work to overcome the challenges that rained down on us last summer, we see a community filled with resilience and, most of all, heart. Those noble attributes embody the holiday spirit of giving and reflection. For that, and for being part of a wonderful community, all of us at the Energy Corridor District are thankful.

The community’s soul was on full display for December’s first Sunday, when crowds took over an Eldridge Parkway closed to motorists and open to safe strolling and biking during an encore round of Cigna Sunday Streets. Several of our local business and organizations took the time to turn out and offer activities, food and fun – providing a respite from rebuilding, and signaling that the Energy Corridor is working its way back.

Earlier that day, nearly 400 participants joined nine generous corporate sponsors for the inaugural Jingle All The 5K run/walk event at the Addicks Park and Ride and the new Park Row. An appearance by Santa and some dancing reindeer – with festive t-shirts and holiday ornaments provided to participants – made for a joyful time. More than 100 toys were collected during a toy drive, and a portion of proceeds from registration and sponsorships went to Memorial Assistance Ministries, the largest provider of social services in West Houston.
