Vanpool for a Chance to Win Prizes on Race to Ride Challenge

Is your commute all traffic and no rewards?

Vanpoolers new and experienced have a chance to win prizes with METRO STAR Vanpool’s Race to Ride Challenge, now through the end of the year.

Every month commuters ride a vanpool adds a chance to win prizes like a GoPro video camera, an Amazon Kindle, free weekend car rentals from Enterprise and more. Commuters signing up for STAR Vanpool get in the prize game, while those now riding vanpools can add a rider for more chances to win.

All new vanpool riders will receive a gift from METRO STAR. And companies participating in STAR Vanpool will compete for a grand prize.

“Vanpooling is rewarding,” explains Kelly Rector, TDM program manager for the Energy Corridor District. “Commuters using vanpools save on vehicle fuel and maintenance, tolls and time, not to mention cutting the stress of driving through congested roads. Earning chances to win prizes puts some fun into commuting.”

Besides, one of safest modes of transportation happens to be vanpools, according to the United States Department of Transportation.

If vanpoolers need a ride home during the workday, METRO has them covered. STAR riders can sign up for the Emergency Ride/Guaranteed Ride Home program. The free service provides commuters a way home in the event of a midday emergency, up to three times per calendar year.
