“Say Goodnight to Hunger!” as Omni Houston Hotel at Westside Fights Food Insecurity for Families

Stays booked online at luxury hotel brand to help provide millions of meals

Guests at the Omni Houston Hotel at Westside and the other 59 Omni Hotels & Resorts nationwide won’t be the only ones resting a little easier as the hotel brand launches a campaign built to help provide millions of meals for food banks to feed hungry kids, families and seniors.

For every stay booked directly on OmniHotels.com, Omni’s Say Goodnight to Hunger campaign will make a donation to Feeding America – enough to provide a family of four dinners for an entire week.

Say Goodnight to Hunger is the largest campaign launched by a Feeding America hospitality partner. A nationwide network of 200 food banks, Feeding America provides food to more than 46 million people annually through 60,000 food pantries and meal programs in communities across America.

Say Goodnight to Hunger is an initiative I am personally proud of, because it embodies one the core values of our organization, which we call Local Market Leadership,” says Mike Deitemeyer, president for Omni Hotels & Resorts. “We are committed to integrating into the culture of each of our locations and caring for those communities. Say Goodnight to Hunger is a unique way to serve and support these local communities in which our company operates.

More than 48 million Americans – including 15 million children – live with limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe food, according to Feeding America. Its food banks often serve working individuals who are facing economic hardship, the organization says.

“It isn’t getting any easier for the families we serve – one in seven Americans is food insecure, including one in five children” says Nancy Curby, vice president Corporate Partnerships at Feeding America. “This new partnership with Omni Hotels will help us in our mission to feed America’s hungry.”

To the magnify the impact of the Say Goodnight to Hunger campaign, Omni Hotel associates will also volunteer at food banks in their local communities, according to the company. Almost one-third of Omni properties actively support food banks in their local communities – from volunteering at facilities and fundraising, to holding food drives and gathering donations.

To show support, Omni Hotel guests are being encouraged to use the hashtag #SayGoodnightToHunger. For more information, visit omnihotels.com, call 1-800-The-Omni, or follow Omni at Facebook.com/OmniHotels, Twitter.com/OmniHotels, and Instagram.com/OmniHotels.

With views of a two-acre lake from its lush atrium lobby, the 400-room Omni Houston Hotel at Westside, 13210 Katy Fwy., has long been a popular destination in The Energy Corridor for lodging, dining and business meetings.
