Fun Runs Return to the District: Early Bird Reg Opens June 11 for Family Friendly Races

“Jingle All the 5K, 10K, 1K” and “Kolache Factory Challenge 5K, 1K” bring unique themes to local fun runs.

Two newly created Energy Corridor District fun runs in the past year are coming back, race organizers announced today.

Early bird registration, offering the largest savings, opens Monday, June 11, for the holiday-themed “Jingle All The 5K, 10K, 1K” and a race that pairs running with kolaches, “The Kolache Factory Challenge 5K, 1K.”
“Kick-start your holiday festivities and outpace that mischievous abominable snow monster with the whole family and join us for the in the 2nd Annual Jingle All The 5K, 10K, 1K, benefiting Memorial Assistance Ministries,” says Tim Herr, co-founder/race director for Run 365. “So, come out and show everyone your best holiday attire and spirit!”
The Kids 1K kicks off the event at 8:10 a.m. and the 5K/10K fun run/walk will start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the Addicks Park and Ride right off of I-10 in the Energy Corridor District.

Participants receive a festive performance tech t-shirt and die cast finishers medal. Appearances by Santa, dancing reindeer and post-race refreshments add holiday flair.

Early bird registration begins June 11 and ends June 30. To register for Jingle All the 5K, 10K, 1K, click here.
Kolache Challenge 5KThe 2nd Annual Kolache Factory Challenge 5K, 1K returns to Park Row on March 9, 2019. The fun run pays homage to one of Texas’ defining pastries, the Kolache.

Title sponsor Kolache Factory was founded in 1982 in Houston, Texas, by co-founders John and Jerri Banks, who saw a need for a fresh, high quality breakfast that could be eaten “on the run.” Well, this year’s inaugural Challenge put that to the test.

Participants in the 5K event may register via three options: Challenge, Casual, Virtual Run.

The 'Challenge' - Eat three sausage and cheese kolaches from Kolache Factory at the 1.5-mile mark and complete the rest of the race in 90 minutes or less. This is for any participant who wishes to accomplish this feat. An award, $100 Kolache Factory gift card, will be given to the fastest challenge male and female. If you register as a Challenger but are not able to complete the Challenge there are no penalties, you're just ineligible for awards.

The 'Casual' registration is for runners who wish to take a more leisurely, traditional run/walk approach to the event and save the kolaches until after the run/walk. An award will be given to the fastest overall casual male and female, a $100 Kolache Factory gift card.

The 'Virtual Run' is for runners who prefer to sleep in, earn their race swag and visit Kolache Factory on their own time.

Also, we have an option for our young participants in the 'Kolache Kids' Fun Run 1K' (ages 12 and Under Fun Run, Untimed). One parent per child may participate for free during the event. A face painter/balloon twister will be on site at the start/finish line area between 8-10 a.m. for all of participating kids.

Early bird registration begins June 11 and ends June 30. To register for the Kolache Factory Challenge, click here.
