Special Thanks to Organizers and Volunteers of Trash Bash for Preserving and Protecting the Environment
HOUSTON (April 2, 2012) – The Annual River, Lakes, Bays ‘N Bayous Trash Bash was a tremendous success again this year. The statewide event, dedicated to cleaning the environment as well as educating the public on the importance of Texas’ water resources, was held at 17 sites in and around the Greater Houston Area, one of which was Buffalo Bayou located in part within The Energy Corridor District. Hundreds of volunteers gathered at Terry Hershey Park then headed to 12 sites to clean the wooded areas along Buffalo Bayou from Highway 6 to Beltway 8 as well as parts of Langham Creek.
“The Energy Corridor District greatly appreciates the organizers, sponsors and volunteers who have demonstrated their commitment to preserving and protecting the environment,” says Robert L. Rayburn, ASLA, LEED AP, Development and Natural Resource Director for the Energy Corridor District. “Briar Forest Super Neighborhood along with REI, Waste Services and ghorba.org should be commended for their efforts in protecting one of Houston’s great natural resources.”
Trash Bash is funded in part through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Supplemental Environmental Projects program.
