Mayor Annise Parker and Senator Rodney Ellis will ride along with participants in the sixth annual BBVA Compass Tour de Houston. Cyclists will line up at City Hall on March 21, as the bike ride kicks off to benefit the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. The route will take riders on a journey through Houston’s historic districts and parks.

“I’m excited to host this annual Houston tradition,” said Mayor Annise Parker. “Thanks to BBVA Compass for their generous commitment, Houstonians will continue to enjoy the city’s premier recreational biking event while supporting our parks system.”

Houston Children’s Charity’s 12th Annual Easter Party

Houston Children’s Charity’s 12th Annual Easter Party is scheduled for Saturday, March 27th from 1 to 4pm at Northland Christian School (4363 Sylvanfield Drive, Houston, 77014).

There will be over 350 children from Houston area agencies and families. They will be treated to a day filled with excessive fun, just like the Easter Baskets they will receive. This afternoon of excitement will include face painting, a giant slide, a train ride, an obstacle course, a petting zoo and pony rides, a moon walk, a sea of balls, lots of food, and as always a special visit from the Easter Bunny.

Once a year thousands of volunteers gather along the Texas waterways to do their part in cleaning up the environment and participate in the largest statewide event to educate the public about the importance of our water resources. Trash Bash occurs rain or shine, unless there are severe weather conditions.

Time
Trash Bash is a half day event and begins between 8:00/8:30 am in the morning and ends at 1:30 in the afternoon. Start time, registration and end time vary from location to location. Please go to the individual cleanup sites for details.

How to...
To get started, pick a cleanup site near you.Volunteer at any of the sites and receive:
Free Lunch
Entertainment
Door Prizes
T-Shirts (T-shirts will be handed out on a first come/first served basis)

Registration
Each participant must sign a registration form, also known as the liability form, for the event. Registration is usually done at the cleanup site the day of the event. For large groups we recommend you complete the forms for each participant ahead of time and have them ready to hand over to the site coordinator the day fo the event. This will save you and the site coordinators time. Registration starts between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. Times vary from cleanup location to cleanup location. Please refer to the individual cleanup sites for exact times.
